US, UK Discuss Iran, Strait of Hormuz Security in Washington Talks

WASHINGTON (Terror Monitor) — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband discussed Iran, maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and broader regional and international issues during talks in Washington, according to the U.S. State Department.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and preventing Iran from obtaining or developing a nuclear weapon.
The discussions also underscored the importance of Europe playing a stronger role in maintaining regional security.
Miliband said his meetings in Washington would also cover continued support for Ukraine against Russia, the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, and ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
