Tehran (Terror Monitor) Iranian authorities say more than 3,000 people have been arrested on allegations of collaborating with the country's "enemy," with the judiciary claiming hundreds were involved in activities linked to Israel.
Judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir said during a press conference that, according to the authorities, 684 of those detained were accused of carrying out "operational activities" for Israel, while 1,258 others were accused of engaging in "political propaganda" and media-related activities.
Jahangir said charges have so far been filed against 1,061 individuals, and authorities have identified hundreds of properties allegedly belonging to those accused.
Since the outbreak of the recent conflict, Iran has invoked tougher espionage laws to arrest hundreds of people or seize their assets over alleged ties or cooperation with Israel. Iranian authorities had also confiscated the assets of several prominent figures during protests earlier this year.
