DUBLIN (Terror Monitor) — Irish authorities have arrested a 40-year-old man following an alleged arson attack on an Islamic prayer hall in the capital city Dublin.
The incident took place on Monday at around 3:35 pm local time at Al-Madina Hall on Talbot Street. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The suspect has been taken into custody and is being held at a police station in north Dublin for further investigation.
Irish police (Gardaí) have launched an investigation into the fire incident. The property sustained damage, but Dublin Fire Brigade brought the blaze under control.
According to Irish broadcaster RTÉ, investigators are working on a clear line of inquiry and do not currently believe the attack is linked to racism or far-right extremism.
Gardaí have appealed to the public for any information or video footage that could assist the investigation.
