Kurram: Pakistan Responds After Alleged Afghan Taliban Firing Along Border

PESHAWAR (Terror Monitor) — Tensions escalated along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Kurram district on Saturday after Afghan Taliban forces allegedly opened fire on Pakistani border positions, prompting a retaliatory response from Pakistan’s security forces, according to security sources.

Sources said the firing originated from the Afghan side in areas including Spina Shaga, Bagan, and nearby border locations, targeting Pakistani posts with heavy weapons, mortars, and automatic firearms.

Pakistan’s security forces responded with what officials described as an effective counteraction, targeting several suspected firing positions, mortar sites, and defensive posts across the border using small arms, heavy weapons, and artillery.

Security sources claimed that Pakistani forces maintained their positions along the border and that the response forced several personnel on the Afghan side to abandon their posts.

Heavy exchanges of fire involving automatic weapons and other arms reportedly continued for some time. No official confirmation of casualties on either side has been released so far, and Afghan authorities have not immediately commented on the incident.

Authorities said security forces remain on alert and are closely monitoring the situation along the border.
