More Than 500,000 Russian Troops Killed in Ukraine War, British Military Chief Says

LONDON (Terror Monitor) — More than 500,000 Russian troops have been killed since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Britain’s senior military officer, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, has said.

According to Knighton, the total number of Russian troops killed or wounded in the Ukraine war has reached approximately 1.5 million. Britain’s estimates broadly correspond with figures cited by the Ukrainian military, while Russia has not immediately commented on the claims.

Despite Russia’s large and powerful military, its progress on the battlefield has remained slow. Western officials and analysts say the pace of Russia’s advance has slowed significantly this year.

Chief of the Defence Staff Sir Richard Knighton also said the Russian military had suffered heavy losses in military equipment during the war.

He said more than 10,000 armored and protected military vehicles, around 3,000 air-defense and artillery systems, and more than 370 aircraft and helicopters had been destroyed or rendered inoperable.
