Pakistan: Local ASWJ Leader Killed in Gun Attack in Hangu

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — A local leader of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), formerly known as the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), was killed in a gun attack by unidentified armed militants in Hangu district of Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to details, Maulana Muhammad Younis Darmand was killed and his 10-year-old son, Musa, was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire in the Babu Tang area of Hangu.
Police said Muhammad Younis Darmand was returning home from a shop when the attackers opened fire near his residence. He died at the scene, while his 10-year-old son sustained injuries.
Police reached the scene after receiving information about the attack, cordoned off the area and collected evidence.
Station House Officer (SHO) Fayyaz Khan said the body was shifted to a hospital for an autopsy, while the injured child was receiving medical treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and a search operation is underway to arrest the unidentified attackers.
