U.S. Strikes on Iran Begin, Explosions Reported Across Southern Regions

WASHINGTON/TEHRAN (Terror Monitor) — The U.S. military has announced the start of air operations against Iran, while Iranian media reported explosions in several locations across the country's southern regions.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement posted on X that it had carried out operations against Iran in response to attacks on American forces in the Middle East.

CENTCOM did not provide further details about the operation. However, a reporter for a U.S. news outlet, citing a senior American official, claimed that U.S. forces were targeting locations inside Iran.

Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported that explosions were heard in several areas of southern Iran. Iranian media said three blasts were heard inside the city of Qeshm Island.

Local residents said a missile struck a residential area, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or injuries.

Iranian media also reported explosions in Bushehr province, home to Iran’s only nuclear power plant. Additional reports of blasts came from Bandar Abbas, Abu Musa, Kish, and Qeshm islands.

The reported strikes came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face a strong response over attacks on an American military base in Jordan.

In an interview with U.S. media, Trump claimed that Iran had launched missile attacks on a U.S. military base in Jordan, but American forces intercepted the missiles within minutes. He warned that Iran would face a severe response.

Drone Attack Reported at Egyptian Port

Meanwhile, reports emerged of a suspected drone attack on Egypt’s Damietta port, where two vessels caught fire. The fire was later brought under control.

Authorities said there were no casualties. A British maritime security company said the attack targeted a U.S. gas storage tanker.

The rising tensions have increased concerns over security conditions in the Gulf, the Red Sea, and other parts of the Middle East.
