Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said the province faces greater security threats from neighboring provinces than from neighboring countries, claiming that militant attacks enter Punjab from those areas. Speaking in Lahore, she said her government had invested billions of rupees in AI, surveillance systems, thermal cameras, drones and fortified security checkpoints to strengthen the province’s security.
Pakistan’s military says security forces have killed 48 militants in operations across several districts of Balochistan over the past three days. The ISPR said 36 militants were killed in the latest intelligence-based operations in Mastung, Kalat and Sibi, while an attempted attack on the Bhagh Police Station was also foiled.
An armed group has abducted a police Station House Officer (SHO) from a mosque in Kurram district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police sources said. The officer, identified as Muhammadi Khan, was reportedly taken to an undisclosed location, while police suspect possible involvement by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), although this has not been independently confirmed.
At least 16 Pakistani soldiers have been killed, around two dozen injured and seven reported missing in an ambush on a military convoy in Balochistan’s Ziarat district, according to intelligence sources. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility, while security forces separately reported killing 12 militants in an operation in Kalat.
Five civilians were injured after armed militants attacked a police station and other government offices in Bhagh Nari, Kachhi district, Balochistan, officials said. The Balochistan government said the attack was foiled by police and counter-terrorism personnel, while a provincial official attributed the assault to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
Pakistan’s military says security forces killed 15 suspected TTP militants attempting to infiltrate North Waziristan from Afghanistan. The 36-hour operation followed the detection of the group near the border, with weapons and ammunition recovered from the scene.
Four TTP militants, including suspected commander Tahir alias Muawiya, were killed in a CTD operation in Peshawar’s Budhni area. Police recovered SMGs, a pistol, grenade, ammunition and an Afghan identity document, while two officers were wounded in a separate attack on a police post.
At least six security personnel, including two military officers, were killed in separate militant attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, while security forces claimed to have killed 21 militants linked to the TTP and BLA.
Security forces killed 14 militants affiliated with the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in two separate operations in Balochistan’s Chagai and Washuk districts, recovering weapons and ammunition from the militants, according to security sources.
