Iran Says 14 Killed, 78 Injured in Two Days of U.S. Strikes

TEHRAN (Terror Monitor) — Iran's Ministry of Health said on Thursday that 14 people were killed and 78 others injured during the past two days of U.S. strikes across the country.
Hossein Kermanpour, head of the ministry's public relations office, wrote on social media platform X that 47 of the injured remain hospitalized, while the others have been discharged after receiving medical treatment.
Iran described the U.S. attacks on civilian infrastructure as a "serious war crime."
The latest strikes followed Iranian attacks on several commercial vessels near the coast of Oman on Wednesday, after which the United States launched attacks on multiple Iranian military positions and port facilities, triggering fires at several locations.
Thursday's strikes appeared broader and more intense than those carried out on the previous day. In Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters, warning sirens reportedly sounded at least three times. Iran claimed responsibility for attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in three Gulf Arab countries, although initial reports indicated no major damage.
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it struck approximately 90 targets across Iran. The U.S. military also released black-and-white footage showing strikes on airport runways and missile launchers.
In a statement, CENTCOM said U.S. forces remain fully alert, maintain strong defensive capabilities, and are prepared to execute any assigned mission.
According to the United States, the strikes were intended to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly one-fifth of global oil and natural gas trade passed before the conflict escalated.
Iranian state media reported explosions in several parts of the country, including Bushehr, where Iran's nuclear power plant is located, as well as the southern coastal cities of Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik.
State media also reported that at least three people were killed in strikes in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan Province on Thursday. In Iranshahr, local authorities said an airport firefighter was killed during one of the attacks.
The casualties came a day after Iranian authorities reported that at least nine members of the Iranian armed forces had been killed in earlier U.S. strikes. Officials did not clarify when another reported fatality occurred.
For the first time since April, U.S. strikes also appeared to target Iranian bridges. Iranian state media reported an attack on a railway bridge in Golestan Province, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said two bridges on the route to Mashhad had also been struck. It remains unclear whether both reports refer to the same incident.
Preparations were underway in Mashhad on Thursday for the burial of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, although it was not immediately clear whether the reported bridge strikes were connected to the area.
Following the NATO summit in Türkiye, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if commercial shipping and maritime traffic were targeted again, "the situation will become much more serious."
Trump also shared multiple videos of explosions in Iran on his social media platform, warning Tehran that attacks on international shipping lanes would not be tolerated and that any further escalation could trigger a much stronger response.
The latest developments come amid rapidly escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with both sides accusing each other of carrying out military attacks.
