Pakistan: Two Christian Cricketers Killed in Mastung Attack, Islamic State Claims Responsibility

QUETTA (Terror Monitor) — Two cricketers belonging to the Christian community were killed in a shooting by unidentified armed attackers at a cricket ground in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, while the Islamic State Pakistan Province (ISPP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to local administration officials, the incident took place at a cricket ground near Shamsabad Cross in Mastung city, where a match was underway.
Officials said unidentified armed men riding motorcycles opened fire at the players, killing two members of the Christian community at the scene.
Balochistan’s Home and Tribal Affairs Department media adviser Babar Yousafzai condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
Speaking to the media, Yousafzai said the attackers were riding two motorcycles and targeted the two cricketers. He added that the government would use all available resources to arrest those responsible and ensure they face the strictest punishment under the law.
A local administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the attack occurred in the Shamsabad Cross area of Mastung, located around 50 kilometers southwest of Quetta.
Meanwhile, the Islamic State Pakistan Province (ISPP) claimed responsibility for the killing of the two Christian cricketers at the cricket ground near Shamsabad Cross.
