KIV (Terror Monitor, Reuters) — Ukrainian officials said drone strikes overnight targeted three Russian oil refineries, oil tankers in the Sea of Azov and pumping stations on key oil pipelines, extending from areas near the Ukrainian border to Russia's Ural region.
The latest attacks come as Russia continues to face fuel shortages in several regions following months of sustained Ukrainian drone strikes against oil refineries and energy infrastructure. Kyiv has increasingly targeted strategic facilities located far from the front lines.
Earlier this week, Ukraine also struck Russia's Omsk Oil Refinery, the country's largest refining facility, located deep in Siberia, approximately 2,700 kilometers (1,700 miles) from Ukrainian-controlled territory.
Ukrainian officials said the latest operation is part of an ongoing campaign aimed at disrupting Russia's fuel supplies and military logistics by targeting critical energyterritory.ucture.
In separate statements, the Ukrainian General Staff and Special Operations Forces said drones struck the TANECO and TAIF-NK oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, the Saratov Oil Refinery, and the Borisoglebsk military air base in Russia's Voronezh region.
Russian authorities confirmed drone attacks in the affected regions but did not disclose the extent of the damage or specify which facilities had been hit.
Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 415 Ukrainian drones during the overnight attacks.
The strikes are the latest in Ukraine's expanding long-range drone campaign against Russian energy and military infrastructure, with Kyiv increasingly demonstrating the capability to hit strategic targets deep inside Russian territory۔
