Pakistan: Suicide bombing targets security camp in Gwadar, 5 personnel killed, over a dozen injured

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Shabbir Turi) — At least five Pakistani security personnel were killed and more than a dozen others injured after a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a Pakistan Coast Guards camp in the Panwan area of Jiwani, Gwadar district, in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, according to government officials.

Official sources said the attack took place on Friday evening when the attacker drove the vehicle into the security installation, triggering a powerful explosion that caused extensive damage to parts of the camp.

Reports from Gwadar indicate that several of the wounded are in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could increase.

Police, Levies personnel, and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene following the explosion. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals, while investigators began collecting evidence from the site.

Pakistani authorities have not issued any details so far regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the bombing.

In an email statement sent to Terror Monitor, a BLA spokesperson claimed that more than 30 security personnel were killed in the suicide attack.

According to the statement, the bombing was carried out by Ataullah Baloch, alias Ajmal, a member of the BLA's Majeed Brigade, who allegedly drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the Coast Guards camp.

The BLA's casualty claim has not been independently verified, and Pakistani authorities have so far reported significantly lower casualty figures.
