An armed group has abducted a police Station House Officer (SHO) from a mosque in Kurram district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police sources said. The officer, identified as Muhammadi Khan, was reportedly taken to an undisclosed location, while police suspect possible involvement by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), although this has not been independently confirmed.
At least 16 Pakistani soldiers have been killed, around two dozen injured and seven reported missing in an ambush on a military convoy in Balochistan’s Ziarat district, according to intelligence sources. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility, while security forces separately reported killing 12 militants in an operation in Kalat.
Pakistan’s federal government has appointed Major General Faisal Naseer as National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) for a three-year term. Five civilians were injured after armed militants attacked a police station and other government offices in Bhagh Nari, Kachhi district, Balochistan, officials said. The Balochistan government said the attack was foiled by police and counter-terrorism personnel, while a provincial official attributed the assault to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
An Ahmadiyya community official, Mirza Safdar Mahmood, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s Mandi Bahauddin district, allegedly in a killing motivated by religious hatred. Police have registered a murder and anti-terrorism case and launched an investigation.
Pakistan’s military says security forces killed 15 suspected TTP militants attempting to infiltrate North Waziristan from Afghanistan. The 36-hour operation followed the detection of the group near the border, with weapons and ammunition recovered from the scene.
Four TTP militants, including suspected commander Tahir alias Muawiya, were killed in a CTD operation in Peshawar’s Budhni area. Police recovered SMGs, a pistol, grenade, ammunition and an Afghan identity document, while two officers were wounded in a separate attack on a police post.

Security forces killed 14 militants affiliated with the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in two separate operations in Balochistan’s Chagai and Washuk districts, recovering weapons and ammunition from the militants, according to security sources.

Pakistan’s Punjab Assembly has passed the Anti-Terrorism (Punjab Amendment) Bill 2026, introducing enhanced security measures and advanced technology for terrorism trials, including video-link hearings, audio-video recording and voice modification to protect judges, lawyers, prosecutors, police officers and witnesses.
